About Moglea

How do you pronounce Moglea?

MOH-GLEE. The name borrows the M from Meg's name (one of the founders) and the GLEA from the Gleason's last name. The O is simply the circle of life. (Ok, so that last part is totally made up. It's pretty hard to come up with a name for a business.)

Where are you located?

Our studio is in downtown Des Moines, IA. Stop in and purchase Moglea products & some other favorites of ours from brands like Areaware, Kinto, Piecework Puzzles. Plus, peek in the windows to watch our #mogleaprocess in action.

Who are the designers for the line?

Meg Gleason is the Creative Director for the paper line and is the Brand Director for the Moglea line. Chad Gleason is the Creative Director for the furniture line (as well as CEO of the company). We have other designers on the team that work with us to execute the vision of the entire team at Moglea. We also wouldn't be able to continue making pretty things without our highly skilled Production Team.

Where do you get inspiration from?

From Meg: Everywhere!! Fashion (Gucci, indie brands) Film (Wes Anderson) Architecture (Barragan, Wright, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe), Travel (NYC, London, Chicago, Rural Iowa) and of course all the incredible artists and designers that paved the way for what we do now (Ray and Charles Eames, Bauhaus School, Memphis Design, Matisse, De Kooning, Stella, Frankenthaler, Kusama).

Product Info

Are your notebooks sealed?

Our hand-painted products do not need to be sealed. The paint we use doesn’t require this. 

What type of paper do you use?

We use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified papers from various paper mills around the world. The thickness of our papers vary from 70GSM - 131 GSM for our notebooks or notepad sheets. Our greeting cards use heavy cardstock at 270 GSM and higher. All of our papers are archival quality and acid free. Our papers will handle ink or fountain pens just fine. We don't currently have notebooks that handle paint or watercolor, but we have these in the works.

What types of paints, brushes and tools do you use?

This information is proprietary and we choose not to share specific information about our unique production processes. This includes paints used, paint recipes or equipment and tools that we have acquired and developed to produce Moglea products. We share these processes on Instagram to help our customers see the people and process behind the product.

Shipping

When will my order ship?

Orders typically ship within 1-3 business days. Once packed and dispatched, your Moglea products make their way to you via the below delivery methods:

UPS Ground
USPS Priority Mail
UPS Next Day Air Saver
USPS Priority Mail Express

I need my order to arrive by a certain date. How do I specify that?

Please reach out immediately via phone 712-304-0797 (no texting please) OR via email. A member of our team will be able to help you arrange the proper shipping (adjusting shipping on your order if necessary) to receive your order on the date your receive. Please remember that once the order is en route, the timing of receipt is dependent upon the carrier. We only use UPS of FedEx for time sensitive shipments.

Do you ship internationally?

We ship worldwide. For International shipments, shipping costs depend on where you live and the method chosen at checkout. International orders are subject to the duties and customs fees that are specific to your home country.

All shipping rates for international orders are calculated at checkout based on weight and destination.

International orders- Will I be charged customs fees and import charges?

The customs fees are outside our control and are not included within the shipping fees, as these fees are governed by the country of the receiver. All charges for customs clearance are the responsibility of the recipient. We are not willing to refund the handling charges or customs fees. If you choose not to accept an item, You may simply let the carrier know that you don’t want to receive this item and return it to the sender. Upon receipt, we will refund the cost of the item less shipping fees.

Returns

What is your return policy?

We’re happy to offer returns on full-priced items purchased online or at the Moglea retail location. Products must be in unused condition in the original packaging and returned within 30 days of purchase for a full refund on the original payment method or store credit. Please package the item in the way you received it and use the original packaging to protect the item in shipping. If items arrived to us used or damaged, we will not be able to issue a return. All sale items are final sale and may not be returned or exchanged.

Once we receive the item, we will refund your order. A $7.00 return fee will be kept.

Can I exchange a product?

Due to the system we use, exchanges are not an option. In this situation we would be able to proceed with a return and you would need to place a new order for lined options.
