About Moglea

Moglea is a letterpress stationery design studio created by Chad & Meg Gleason in 2012. Meg, the illustrator behind the line, loves bold pops of color and intricate floral and geometric patterns. She is deeply inspired by her rural Iowa surroundings and the farm where she resides with her family. Moglea designs are unique because of the special processes we use to add color and texture to our designs. Most of our products are dip-dyed, hand painted, or collaged before printing. Each piece of stationery or product feels unique and made specially for you.

What is Letterpress?

Letterpress printing is one of the oldest printing methods and involves a raised form that is literally pressed into soft paper. This process leaves a beautiful impression that one can see and feel! Each sheet of paper is fed (sometimes by hand) into the press and the printer must keep an attentive eye to monitor the pressure, registration, ink coverage, and overall consistency to ensure a quality print. Each ink color requires a separate plate and run through the press, which explains why most letterpress printing involves only 2-3 colors. There will be slight variations from piece to piece because of the manual nature of letterpress printing. Moglea’s studio uses four antique presses that enable us to print ink, print shiny foil, cut out shapes (die cut) and fold our cards.
